ABICE
you're only starting here because you crossed the fabric directly...
usually you'd probably come from the apartment. this place could look like at lot of different
things, depending on who you are and what part of town you're in.
THE APARTMENT
it's easy enough to get here and start over, although really you can start wherever you want. however,
it's definitely most thematically appropriate to begin here. each time you look out the window, the
scene will be completely different, but your door will always open to the Nexus. youqi is always here if
you are, and she'll always follow you out.
THE NEXUS
as dynamic as everything else in this world is, the Nexus never changes. you can hear crickets and rain,
even if it isn't raining. it's a wooded road lit by
streetlights, with doors lining the road. you know where the first dozen or so lead, but there are so
many, it's impossible to keep track. the only person who knows where all of them go is Youqi. she'd be
happy to help you if you get lost. this isn't the 'space between', but rather the space nowhere. nobody
can chase you here, and nobody can follow you unless you invite them. the only person who can be here
without permission is Youqi. wait, technically
you shouldn't even be here...
RILEY'S ROOM
this isn't through any door, but it's diretly down a path through the woods in the Nexus.
GAME HUB
um..."game hub" is a really stupid name. normal people call that an arcade. well, play to win!
JEWEL AND TREEHOUSE
this place is full of narrative: the sky is coming for you. but that at least makes it easy to use this
to travel to other planets, including Ocean Space and Beyond. suprisingly enough, you don't need to use
this to travel to either Childish Planet or the Moon, as those are both still on this planet...(?!
weird)
HELL
only a short distance away from Abice is Hell. it's really only as bad as you make it. if you like the
color red, it's probably pretty nice!
QUIET
if you can figure out how to ascend, directly above Hell are a number of quiet planes and rooms. these
kinds of places are sparsely populated with characters that only respond if you talk to them
first...like with textboxes?
ABSTRACTIONS
far enough ventured into the quiet rooms will approach branching Abstractions (affectionately called
Abstractions of Tsuki after frequent borrowing and visits from friends...). this is somewhere everyone
wants to be. if you feel confident about the geometric integrity of your current plane, you've already
wandered out. you shouln't expect to be anywhere expansive either, unless it's weird enough to justify
it. if you can manage to find the 'mona lisa room', you can find the caves, which are probably too
special to be documented :)
PECULIARITIES
a favorite of many!! it leads many places as well!!! there's so much activity, you can't voluntarily
stay in one place for too long! if you allow yourself to get swept up, you may end up in Wonderland
(though you're sort of through the gate already),
Hugo's Dream World, Character Dell'arte, the Moon, or Theatre the Stars. there are so many interesting
things here, and for the right price, you can take many of them with you. but what do you have to
bargain with?
WONDERLAND
this is usually accompanied by Tom. stop calling him Jack, that's not his name. anyways, this place is a
bit simpler than Peculiarities, but that makes it easier to focus on the tasks at hand. and there is a
LOT to do. the black and white queens have been fighting for so long, and at this point the disruption
of their war is beginning to extend past Wonderland.
THEATRE THE STARS
it's more intricately decorated than you can imagine, to bring ballet and commedia to life. the sky is
painted, but it is moving nonetheless and fits the scene appropriately. when the show is finished,
whichever door you take may bring you to Paris, Peculiarities, the Wooded Castle, or to any of numerous
afterparties!
THE WOODED CASTLE
i don't have any images that depict this accurately. i'll have to draw it sometime. you are inside of a
castle. the floor of the castle is grass, and countless trees grow out of it. some trees only reach the
ceiling, and some seem to have grown through it. in some particularly grand rooms, the ceilings are
obscured by clouds, and you cannot see how tall the trees are. there are no windows, yet there's always
a dim, cool illumination that is reminiscent of early morning sunlight on an extremely cloudy day.
everything is overgrown, but it seems like the former inhabitants have left almost all of their
treasures behind. many animals typically found in a forest can be seen.
CHARACTER DELL'ARTE
between Paris and Wonderland is where the Pierrot and Arlecchino and all the other stock reside. some of
the things that are here have lived here forever, others have wandered in and lingered too long so that
they find themselves painted and dressed and have forgotten everything but the archetype. most often
Arlecchino torments Pierrot. Il Capitano, Il Magnifico, Il Dottore, Columbina, and various children
frequent the stage. Here, anyone may cross paths with wandering jesters and practicers of
all sorts of practicers of pantomime as well.
PARIS
finally, Paris, where each block may shift in century but the people are all the same and there are many
lavish parties. it's notable that
a "first love" is waiting for you here as well. It's a city of thousands and thousands of doors, but you
know which to enter to get to the Museum.
THE PENTHOUSE
it's always Christmas.
